Humble gratitude<\/b><\/p>\n

On the stage of the Ga\u00efa, which he has just received, the most famous case craftsman takes out a piece of paper: he deliberately pronounced the name of all those who have placed their trust in him. The most renowned brand names were followed by lesser-known names, such as Laurent Jolliet<\/a> and Nicolas Commergnat<\/a>… What emotion!<\/p>\n

Thanks to Dr. Helmut Crott<\/a>, a renowned author, world expert in the world of the pre-owned market and original member of the Horopedia Foundation<\/a>, I have the memory of unforgettable evenings at Il Salento<\/a> in Carouge, where Jean-Pierre Hagmann’s humility and sparkle whiled away the hours. He always had a project in his pocket, a series of photos to show on his cell phone.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

A major figure, cheerful and humble<\/b><\/p>\n

As a member of the jury for the Prix Ga\u00efa<\/b><\/a>, I had become aware, as the deliberations went on, of how great this man was, despite his extreme discretion. I still can’t get over my failed plan, due to the undeniable unavailability of one of my journalists, to dedicate a substantial portrait to him in the Swiss Watch Journal JSH of June 2024. That was before he won the Ga\u00efa prize and before his consecration at the GPHG that same year. So it would have been before the media wave that suddenly, well, finally, washed over him. A wave so well deserved, mischievously accepted, experienced with gratitude and humility.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>

Jean-Pierre Hagman was awarded the Ga\u00efa prize in the 'Crafts-Creation' category in September 2024 by R\u00e9gis Huguenin-Dumittan, Curator of the International Museum of Horology in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the MIH. The \u201cNobel of Watchmaking\u201d is awarded prior to the GPHG ceremony in Geneva, where the most famous handcrafted timepiece of Swiss watchmaking excellence has also been honored<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Jean-Pierre Hagmann has just passed away<\/strong><\/p>\n

On the night of Saturday to Sunday (editor’s note, March 7 and 8, 2025<\/i>). Laurent Jolliet, the jeweler-chain maker the whole world is talking about, was preparing to welcome him back after his Akrivia interlude as a workshop colleague at Lignon. Back in the fold, space had already been freed up, orders and contracts signed! The most famous manufacturer of Swiss watchmaking excellence was therefore preparing to get back on track at the age of 80. And to tirelessly perpetuate his knowledge and his passion. His workbench and his lathe were already ready.<\/p>\n

The timetable of existential departures is still beyond human control and comprehension. Thank goodness, oh what little consolation, Jean-Pierre Hagmann departed peacefully and not on the handlebars of one of his old motorbikes, which he restored and was so fond of.

Then in 2021, he built on his very first editorial venture, the \"bloghorloger.ch\" established on the web in 2003, to come back online with the Swiss Watch Passport\u00ae (by JSH\u00ae).
