As former students of Wostep and employees of Renault & Papi, these sons of Johannes Gr\u00f6nefeld \u2013 alias \u2018Sjef\u2019 \u2013 are brilliantly continuing the family legacy from this small town in the Netherlands, just two hours from Amsterdam: they regularly win awards at the Grand Prix d\u2019Horlogerie de Gen\u00e8ve and welcome their international clients to the exclusive surroundings of Watches & Wonders.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

Less well known is that at night, at least twice a year between 2 and 3 am, Bart or Tim engage in an activity that is surprising to say the least: setting the imposing bell tower clock of Oldenzaal Basilica\u2014located just a stone\u2019s throw from the workshop\u2014to summer and winter time. \u201cOur grandfather Johan Gr\u00f6nefeld used to look after the maintenance of the movement. Our father, Sjef, born in 1941, helped out from the age of 12… As children, we always followed our father\u2019s lead, and he is now teaching us everything there is to know about this movement.<\/i>\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

The <\/em>St. Plechelm Basilica<\/em><\/b> at night, viewed from Bart Gr\u00f6nefeld\u2019s garden. Built around 1150 from Bentheim sandstone in the Westphalian Romanesque style, its bell tower was added to the church around 1240. A monumental clock from 1913, manufactured by Eijsbouts in the south of the Netherlands. \u201cIt is fitted with a 30-second winding mechanism and a striking mechanism for the half-hours and hours. These include Journal Suisse d'Horlogerie (2008-2014), Heure Suisse\/Schweiz and Ann\u00e9e Horlog\u00e8re, F\/D\/E (2011-2014), Watchonista.com (2013-2019). In 2019, he founded and chaired \"JSH Archives & Patrimoine\" to relaunch the Swiss watchmaking journal JSH. Then in 2021, he built on his very first editorial venture, the \"bloghorloger.ch\" established on the web in 2003, to come back online with the Swiss Watch Passport\u00ae (by JSH\u00ae).
