{October 13, 2008} The shared story of these two “H “s starts underwater. The divers in the Oscar-winning film “The Frogmen” are all wearing Hamilton. The message was received loud and clear, also in terms of the watches’ endurance and water resistance, as this was the first film to deal with the technical and practical challenges faced by the heroic divers of the Second World War. Then came the sixties and their swing: Elvis Presley in 1961 personally chose Hamilton’s Ventura and its distinctive shield shape as the partner for his romantic musical “Blue Hawaii”, an item that has since been auctioned off to provide temporary housing for the homeless in Memphis (Tennessee); Stanley Kubrick then generated Hamilton’s now legendary timepieces for his “Space Odyssey” in 2001. Since these achievements, the brand has made 300 films and has become a Hollywood legend in its own right, with appearances in both action and fantastical films, such as “Back to Hell” and “I’m a Legend”, and in classic comedies such as “The Pink Panther” (version with Steve Martin), “A Beautiful Mind” (a sensitive portrait of Nobel Prize winner John Nash), and “The Return of Superman”. We will also remember the place given to this asymmetrical watch worn by Will Smith in “Men In Black”. In short, what could be more logical for this watch brand, which often participates in the development of projects from the very first line of the script, than to be a sponsor, together with Hollywood Life magazine, of the “Behind The Camera” awards. Filnally, consistency pays off.
