Antiquorum is proud to tell the story of an exceptional man with LOT 160 ROLEX, REF. 16030, DATEJUST, PERSONAL WATCH OF FORMER HIGH COMMISSIONER FOR HUMAN RIGHTS SERGIO VIERA DE MELLO, STEEL. Estimation CHF 20,000 – CHF 40,000.

Sergio Vieira de Mello was a Brazilian diplomate. He notably was the main initiator of a plan which put an end to the exodus of the Vietnamese “boat people”, who were still leaving Vietnam ten years after the end of hostilities but also organized the repatriation of 370,000 Cambodians to their villages in June 1993. In September 2002, the Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, named Sergio as High Commissioner for Human Rights. While serving as Annan’s Special Representative he was tragically killed in Baghdad, in a terrorist attack. His exceptional life and work contributed to saving thousands of lives and this watch still carries a piece of his legacy—a lot that is further enhanced by a letter of authenticity from his wife.

LOT 168 A. LANGE & SOHNE, REF. 151.025, LANGE 1, INTEGRATED PLATINUM BRACELET, PLATINUM. Estimation CHF 35,000 – 55,000.

Since the introduction of the Lange 1, this model has become the face of A. Lange & Söhne, deservedly. Purchased new by the current owner in 2006, this Lange 1 in platinum has the extremely rare and fine integrated platinum Wellendorf bracelet adding a whole new dimension and appearance to the classic Lange 1. According to correspondence with the manufacturer, less than 50 watches of this model were produced. It is the first time we have offered a full platinum version at auction, No doubt that this gem will be noticed by the brand aficionados.

The first day will conclude with the outstanding LOT 200 PATEK PHILIPPE, REF. 1463, TWO-TONE SILVER DIAL, APPLIED BREGUET NUMERALS, STEEL. Estimation CHF 300,000 – CHF 500,000.

Introduced in 1940, the ref. 1463 is the first fully waterproof chronograph produced by Patek Philippe. Sold in February 1951, this beautifully designed chronograph in steel is extremely fine and rare especially with its original applied Breguet numerals as per its archives extract.

Nonetheless, this first session will also feature some rarities and among them, Antiquorum would like to spotlight:
