For families, children, a twinning with Germany

Light on activities

Once a year, a philosophy workshop is organized. First, a time for observation, the participants pick one piece that question them.

Then, all together think about time, its mastery and the museum collections

A workshop called, Le temps des artistes, is often hold. The children have a detail and they have to look for the object related to it. After that, they draw which allow them to think like a watchmaker looking for inspiration.

Torn paper is available to decorate boxes as clocks. Those activities are not only during summer but also all along school year. Going to the museum can be part of a green class. Children assist to activities on their own and waiting for them, parents go on visit or on a walk around. On Wednesday, children are invited to discover museum objects and temporary exhibitions. For those who are interested, Escape Game is one more possibility.

Twinning with Trossingen

Recently, they celebrated their 50th Anniversary by proceeding to museum exchange. Indeed, a temporary exhibition happened in Cluses and in their turn, for two months, an exhibition was hold from March the 2nd to May the 26th in Trossingen. Auberlehaus Museum is about the history of the city and many subjects are evocated.

The Cluses - Trossingen twinning follows on from the Elysée Treaty signed by General de Gaulle, then President of France, and Konrad Adenauer, Federal Chancellor, in 1963. Jacqueline Raguin, a German teacher at Cluses secondary school, organized the first exchanges in 1970. The twinning committee was set up in 1973, and the official agreement between the two towns was signed in 1974. The mayors at the time were Paul Bechet and Heinz Mercherlein

Connections with other museums

The museum has met Besançon museum team, the capital of watchmaking and the one from Saint Nicolas d’Aliermont. Since then, they follow each other on social networks. To make the encyclopaedia, Horopedia, the managers came to film and take pictures. It was the unique partnership with Switzerland.
