Independents on the rise: out of its 34 brands, Watches & Wonders welcomes 24 independent brands, including the leaders Rolex-Tudor and Patek Philippe. 10 brands from the Richemont group and three from the LVHM group

Main exhibitions and discoveries

Apart from the young watchmaking hopefuls of Time to The Future who, thanks to the motivation of a watchmaking enthusiast, a patent attorney, are having their first public appearances, apart from the AHCI at the IceBergues, an essential label for independent watchmaking oriented towards creative watchmakers and chronometric craftsmanship, the main “must-sees” remain the Watches & Wonders (extension of the SIHH Fair) with, including its “Carré des Horlogers”, a total of 38 brands, as well as the new Time To Watches show with its likewise 38 brands, to which are added two educational institutions and an enameller.

Time to Watches, a newcomer on the Geneva watch fair scene, in partnership with the HEAD, is offering 38 brands - as many as the Watches and Wonders - over 4 days, all of them independent, including 9 promising young watchmaking companies grouped in the Time To The Future by Mestel space

Two hubs also not to be missed, as well as some individuals

To start with, the Barton7 space (named after a Geneva street behind the Kempinski hotel) which, on the initiative of Marco Borraccino, CEO of Singer Reminagined, comprises 8 brands. Then, the “Independent Days” (without website) which, in the most historical hotel of Geneva, the Beau Rivage palace still in family hands, will gather 6 brands including Claude Meylan.

Finally, some are playing it solo, choosing here a mythical location, there a venue in a hotel or a ” in-house ” presence that transforms a factory, a workshop or a boutique into a reception area.

25 jewel signatures in addition

No doubt that this list is constantly being completed… Especially since a new show, a jewellery show, has also decided to include its 5 days and its 25 jewellery brands in this calendar: Jewellery Geneva will take place at the Hotel Président Wilson from March 30 to April 3, 2022.

Without EPHJ and the heart of the business?

More than 20 years ago, the entrepreneur André Colard and his partner Olivier Saenger fought first at Lausanne Beaulieu and then at Geneva Palexpo, so that watch subcontractors could have their own show and free themselves from Baselworld. By moving more than 800 companies that were listed in the Basel accounts as exhibiting brands, they could well be the true initiators of the transfer of the watchmaking sector to Geneva. Not only did they indirectly give real roots to the SIHH, which had seceded 10 years earlier, but they also transformed into a heart of the industry those more than 800 companies that Basel used to call “the side branches”. They also made possible the arrival in Geneva of the more than 200 exhibitors of the GemGenève jewelry show, which will take place this year from May 5 to 8, 2022, also at Palexpo.

EPHJ, 20 years! See you from June 14 to 17, 2022, at Palexpo
