{Published on November 24, 2010} Who better than the Atrium studio, the Ziegler couple’s photo workshop in Le Landeron, could photograph the mysterious figurine stone set by Gil Sertissage in La Chaux-de-Fonds? Mysterious brilliances…
Who is behind this face, whose haughty attitude brings to mind some pharaonic figure? The artwork is by Miguel Gil in La Chaux-de-Fonds, whose family business is known to a large number of watch brands, judging by the famous names that fill the edges of a host of federal folders full of plans and drawings. In the factory on Rue du Pont in La Chaux-de-Fonds, CNC corridors reflect the intense activity before the stones and diamonds were laid. This is called ‘mitraillage’, an operation that consists of mechanically digging the cavities where the precious stones will be inserted, once an operator has run a computer program. And in the office of the boss, the owner of the place, between a furniture in precious wood striped with diamonds, a set iPhone shell and some other heterogeneous testimonies of artistic interpretations of savoir-faire, this splendid bust is standing. Amazing, the fineness of the facial features, from the corners of the mouth to the joints of the ears. All is there, it was still necessary to be able to show it.
